Dholkhand Forest Rest House (FRH) at Mohand Gate in Rajaji Tiger Reserve is one of the reserve’s most atmospheric heritage stays, known for its deep-forest setting, wildlife-rich approach road, and old-world forest-department charm.
It sits in the Mohand–Chillawali side of Rajaji, where the route to the FRH is itself part of the experience, with a 13 km drive through forest that is noted for good chances of spotting wildlife.

Dholkhand FRH is a VVIP-category forest rest house, and staying here requires special permission from the Director of Rajaji Tiger Reserve. We were fortunate to secure approval after considerable persuasion, and we stayed here from 8 to 10 May 2026.
At Dholkhand, the appeal is the setting itself: a secluded forest rest house where mornings begin with birdsong and evenings settle into jungle silence.
